GENESIUS THEATRE ANNOUNCES OPEN AUDITIONS
TUESDAY, MAY 13 – 7:00 PM – at the Theatre,
10th & Walnut Sts, Reading
Carrie White is a misfit. At school she’s an outcast who’s bullied by the popular crowd, and virtually invisible to everyone else. At home, she’s at the mercy of her loving but cruelly over-protective mother. But Carrie’s just discovered she’s got a special power, and if pushed too far, she’s not afraid to use it …
Please email Director Christopher Sperat – PtownTchr@aol.com – with any questions, for specifics on cast breakdown and requirements, or for a PDF of the musical material.
Interested candidates should be familiar with the following musical selections;
- CARRIE WHITE – “Carrie”
- MARGARET WHITE – “And Eve Was Weak” and “When There’s No One”
- SUE SNELL – “Once You See” and “You Shine”
- TOMMY ROSS – “Dreamer in Disguise”
- CHRIS HARGENSEN – “The World According to Chris”
- BILLY NOLAN – “The World According to Chris”
- MISS GARDNER – “Unsuspecting Hearts”
Candidates interested in the roles of MR. STEPHENS, FRIEDA, NORMA, HELEN, GEORGE, STOKES or FREDDY can simply choose one of the selections assigned to CHRIS, SUE, TOMMY or BILLY.
Just a note: MARGARET WHITE, MISS GARDNER and MR. STEPHENS are the only “adult” roles in the show. The remaining cast must be able to convincingly play high school seniors living through the intense final weeks leading up to Senior Prom and graduation.
Immediately following the vocal portion of the audition, some candidates may be asked to stay and do some cold readings from the script.
Performances run from October 17 through October 26.
