Hey Genesius Members...
Mark these two dates on your
calendar... We are getting back to having speakers come in
and talk about their up's and downs in the professional
theater. These are very informative events and you can learn
a lot from these very talented people. These events are great for young
and old alike! Only $5.00 donation - cash only (try to bring exact
change)
February 9 - Monday - 7:15 PM - Melissa
Gallagher - Genesius Alumnus (1974 to 1978 ish)... Melissa
attended and graduated from The Juilliard School in NYC... and has had
an excellent career in the professional theater since then.
She will be in town because she is in the Fulton Opera House
(Lancaster, PA) production of "The Unexpected Guest"...
that runs from Jan. 29 thru Feb. 15... ( a number of us are going to
catch her act at the matinee on Sunday, Feb. 8... - John
Gancar is formulating a group to attend - write him if you
would like to join us... John Gancar
<jgancar@gabchealth.org> ) Melissa did loads of
shows at Genesius with her sister Megan Gallagher and her wonderful
late mother Aileen Gallagher. She was Maria in the 1975 "West Side Story," Young
Sally in "Follies"
and also was in Bill Sanders great Dance Revue "Gotta Dance"...
(to name a few)
Jim
Oswell... will be moving his speaking engagement at Genesius to Sunday,
February 15, at 5:00 PM, right after the 2:00 "Isn't It
Romantic" matinee... So come see this wonderfully fun musical revue
created by Irving Gonzalez, Andrew Cusano and Christopher Sperat about all the
many aspects of love... (check out the web-site for tickets... only $15.00 for
the Revue) and then stick around for Jim Oswell... I
know this will be informative and lots of fun too!
Jim has offered some
"Teasers" to get you to show up and catch his act...
· What happened when Dolly Parton invited Jim to her Hotel room??? · What happened when Jim and Julie Andrews came face to face??? · What happened when a group of goldfish joined the cast of ‘Singin’ In The Rain’ ??? · What advise does Sherlock Holmes have for young actors??? · What did the Tinman from the movie ‘The Wiz’ have to do with Jim??? · How many Genesius actors does it take to screw in a light bulb??? · What did an eleven year old boy say to Jim that made his face turn red??? · Why did Barbara Cook (Candide, Oklahoma) come back stage to talk to Jim and his roommate during the national tour of ‘42nd Street’ ??? Hear the answers to all of these questions and more!!! NO CHARGE for Jim either (just pass the hat donation) Don't miss these two opportunities to learn more about the professional world of theater and hear some great stories as well. Hopefully
soon to come we will be adding William Sanders, the Artistic Director,
of Civic Theatre in Allentown and Richard Bradbury (Follies... A Little
Night Music)... to speak for us...
